Hey there,

Imagine this…

You’re about to launch a brand-new website for which you hired a big web agency to create the designs.

A few days before you present the website to the board, you get the test version in your inbox.

Beautiful designs and shiny templates full of stunning images.

But all of them filled with LOREM IPSUM! 😮😮😮

Tudududuuu šŸŽ»šŸŽ»šŸŽ» dramatic strings

How can you possibly present a website to your board—or even approve it—if you don’t understand what it says? šŸ¤·ā€ā™€ļø

This is template-driven work, and it’s miles away from human-centric design.

What’s worse: working this way puts your conversion at risk! āš ļø

Because once you start filling in the template, marketing, sales, and product managers all have to cram their messages into it:

šŸ”ŗ A title of max 1 line šŸ”ŗ An image in the first block, whether you want it there or not šŸ”ŗ Fixed blocks, without icons or scannability

That will never give you a convincing story. Deadly for your conversion. šŸ’€

The problem with Lorem Ipsum

The "use" of Lorem Ipsum is also its biggest flaw. It was created as a placeholder for blocks that didn’t have copy yet.

But how can you know you need a block if you don’t know what will go in it? šŸ¤”

When designing websites, every block should have a purpose—and therefore content—and therefore copy. Otherwise, it just gets in the way and messes with your conversion.

That’s why strategic, well-designed wireframes ALWAYS include copy.

How to avoid Lorem Ipsum

Step 1 – Start from the problem Ask yourself this crucial question: Why are people coming to your website?

šŸ‘‰ What problem do they want to solve? šŸ‘‰ Who are your website visitors? šŸ‘‰ What questions do they have?

How do you find this out? Through qualitative research!(More on that another time šŸ˜‰)

Step 2 – Fill your wireframes with copy right away Or at least a rough version of it. Not perfect? No problem.

This way you immediately see: āœ… Whether the block really adds value (if not, cut it) āœ… Whether you’re answering the most important questions (in the right place) āœ… Where your story needs visual support

By working like this, you perfectly align content and design. And that’s how you make sure your website will actually convert.

And those templates? Yes, you’ll still need them. But always start with a strong, well-structured story—then build your templates around that.
